8 Hours of Continuing Education is Required Annually
If you took 8 hours of ConEd during January - March of 2020, you do NOT have to obtain hours for 2021, you can use those credits to renew your license for 2022
• All hours must be ABO/NCLE approved for the category credit sought
• 3 Hours of Contact Lenses Fitting, Dispensing OR 2 Hours of Contact Lenses Fitting and Dispensing and 1 hour of Optical Business Management, Consumer Protection, or Ethics (NCLE)
• 4 Hours of Eyeglass Fitting and Dispensing (ABO)
• 1 Hour “Board Course” Laws and Rules affecting NC Opticians (ABO)
• Licensees can obtain no more than 4 hours (up to 50% max) of the annual education requirements online.
• e-presentations - where instructor presents the course “live” with attendees
• journal/magazine articles - self-study - where the article is read and evaluation questions are answered and submitted to the articles sponsor
