Attention NC Opticians,
In a statement by the Opticians Association of Nevada (OAN), regarding SB106, proposed by warby parker, they stated:
Senate Bill 106 has been proposed by Warby Parker, which will allow them to avoid any use of Opticians for their services being sent anywhere in the country. They are pushing to be omitted from opticianry laws and regulations in the manufacturing states, as well as the receiving states, arguing in the manufacturing state that the state should not control out-of-state sales, and then in the receiving state, that the manufacturing was done elsewhere…
Nevada is asking for our help in fighting this bill and has included the names and email addresses for the members of the Assembly, Labor, and Commerce Committee. Please see their latest update below.
Opticians Association of Nevada Update (5/10/23):
The hearing did not go well, opticians opposing the bill were not allowed to speak.
Their lobbyist is asking for as many opticians as possible to contact the committee members in the next 24 hours.

Talking points given by OAN:
This will impair the health, safety, and welfare of patients
Warby Parker is attempting to eliminate quality jobs and replace with low level factory jobs
This is written exclusively for one entity – Warby Parker – and benefits them to the detriment of all other Nevada ophthalmic providers
The bill contains undefined terms, such as “intended wearer” which makes the bill void for vagueness
Warby Parker is playing both sides of this issue, demanding removal from Ophthalmic protections in the manufacturing state, and then asserting that they do not have to comply with the standards in the receiving state

Thank you,
